Every modern Republican President has talked about the need to reduce the size, scope, and cost of the Federal Government. One of President Reagan’s most memorable statements was when he declared, “Government is not the solution to our problem; government is the problem.”
But where many sought cuts to the Federal behemoth, President Trump is delivering, and he is doing so with the help of the only new Federal department that has ever been given the explicit mission to reduce rather than expand the size of our Federal government. This is, of course, the Department of Government Efficiency - DOGE.
The ideas underpinning DOGE can and should be the catalyst to completely change the way we think of governmental functions. To that end, we need to be honest about the fact that both the purpose and execution of many Federal departments, agencies, and programs were designed for a different era, and can therefore be replaced by a modern, nimble private and charitable sector.
It is with this in mind that I propose the creation of the DOGE DIVIDEND.
If you operate a non-profit group that does or can do something the government does, and can do it better, the members of the non-profit group, including employees and volunteers, get huge personal tax cuts.
As part of the deal, once it is shown that the group is doing a better job than the parallel government department or agency, that agency or department is cut; we DOGE IT AWAY!
This will help save millions locally and billions nationally every year while creating strong incentives for donors and volunteers to help make our country great again!
Take the homeless and addiction problems that plague so many of our once-great cities. If non-profit groups were fully empowered to help the homeless, including through safe and humane relocation into treatment programs and safe houses, we could both solve this problem and save money.
What’s more is that when our cities are made safe again, empty stores will fill up with small businesses that provide the lifeblood of any community.
Such non-profit groups could even help able-bodied and sound-minded homeless people to find jobs where they can get off the spiral of hopelessness and back into a productive life.
In my forthcoming book, From Mar-a-Lago to Mars: President Trump’s Great American Comeback, I trace how when it comes to DOGE, and many other policy changes, President Trump has done what many prior Presidents have merely promised to do but failed to implement.
The Trump administration is all about new ideas, and when it comes to the DOGE Dividend, there is nothing to lose. The DOGE Dividend provides a clear incentive for the private sector to not only do what, in many cases, government was unfit to do in the first place, but it prioritizes results in real time.
Unless you’re a hardcore big-government ideologue, I cannot see how such a proposal could be opposed. At the very worst, the DOGE Dividend will cost us nothing. At its best, it will save money, provide better public services, and reward the entities and individuals who help to improve those services.
There’s no time to lose; let’s get the DOGE DIVIDEND in action right away!

I like your idea! We do need to make deep cuts but also still support those in need, etc.
Just for thought, how would you propose implementing safe guards against abuse and fraud in such organizations? This should be a highly privileged position for any organization and the requirements must be stringent.
